Stefan & Jason
CASA started with two friends who spent years working in the brand world, while always finding ourselves drawn to spaces, furniture, and the people who make them. Over time, that obsession slowly became the work.
Our shop is in Ventura, wedged between the ocean and the mountains, and that has become a pretty big part of how we see things. We’re constantly looking at old beach houses, ranch buildings, roadside architecture, and the traditions of surfboard shaping and boat building that have such deep roots along this stretch of California. There’s something about those crafts that we’ve always loved—the balance of function and feel, the subtle differences made by hand, and the idea that something can be incredibly considered without feeling precious.
That thinking carries into the shop. We design spaces, build furniture and millwork, and obsess over how things actually come together—the joinery, the proportions, the way something feels in your hand, and how it’s going to look after ten years of being used. We’re not particularly interested in making precious things. We want to make homes and objects that people can really live with and that get a little better as they get beat up.
CASA has grown pretty organically from there. We’re still two buddies making stuff we’re excited about, surrounded by a small group of incredibly talented people who know how to turn our sometimes crazy ideas into something real.
